　　弗兰妮（梅格·瑞恩 Meg Ryan饰）是一名内向保守的大学教师。她跟妹妹一起住在纽约曼哈顿一间破旧窄小的单身公寓里。可单调的生活加之枯燥无味的工作远不能填满她内心的寂寞。弗兰妮在为一本研究美国俚语的书搜集资料，正巧，她在酒吧的洗手间里无意间窥视到了一对正在口交的男女。这一幕深深的刻在了她的脑海中，尤其是这名男子手腕上的纹身。

　　时隔不久，探员马龙（马克·鲁弗洛 Mark Ruffalo饰）因为一起碎尸案找到了弗兰妮。她惊讶的发现，马龙手腕上的纹身跟酒吧洗手间里的男人一模一样。爱欲跟好奇激起了弗兰妮的强烈欲望，她深陷这黑暗的激情之中，忘却了一系列接连发生的女性被杀案似乎都跟马龙有着千丝万缕的关联……
